| Thank you for your interest in Nurse Massage Therapy.
Most of my clients are word-of-mouth referrals who already have heard that I am an extraordinary healing practitioner charging $75 for a 1-hour massage. With my professional expansion into other areas (such as presented in the entirety of this website!), Nurse Massage Therapy now occupies only a small percent of my practice. Because of this fact, please understand that I prefer not to answer general and vague e-mail or "Instant Message" inquiries. Instead I have this website to inform the serious prospective client. (For convenience, you may want to contact your local massage school -- in Tucson it is the Desert Institute of Healing Arts -- for a recommended list of regular massage therapists.) To understand what I bring to the table, here is an overview of my professional journey: I first began by pursuing a nursing career and graduating with distinction from the University of Arizona in 1980. As a R.N., I worked with Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapists as a Rehabilitation Nurse helping people recover from head trauma, spinal cord injuries or stroke, and later coordinated rehabilitation progress for private clients living at home. My career took an unique turn in 1984 when I began teaching "Touch for Health" at the local massage school, Desert Institute of Healing Arts, where I later enrolled in their 1250-hour massage training program. In 1985 I became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). I began my private practice as a Nurse Massage Therapist, pioneering a new nursing specialty of health promotional education. This enabled me to promote holistic wellness on all levels -- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. During tis period, I actively volunteered in the National Association of Nurse Massage Therapist as Treasurer-Secretary, Vice President and President. As a Licensed Massage Therapist of the highest standards, I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and became Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1993 when this certification first became available. |
